About the Club

Wharfedale Hillwalkers is a new walking club set up by Richard Coppell (general secretary, webmaster, walks admin - basically contact him about anything, including walk leading and joining) Mark Auger (chair), and Sarah Chapman (membership secretary and treasurer). Mark Killala walks approver/sec (gives Richard technical advice). It's a YHA-affiliated outdoors group, but we're just doing hiking. As a YHA group we have a group Youth Hostels Association card so members can use this to organise group trips away using youth hostels.

It's just for hiking without extra trappings, for the under-50s. It's internet-based to make it simple to run. We're aiming at walkers who enjoy getting away from it all, and anyone who enjoys longer leg-stretches!

We're not associated with the Ramblers, but we have all been members at some point or the other, and support their campaigning on behalf of walkers. Naturally we support the voluntary aspect of YHA membership and may be promoting this in the future.

We're indebted to The Ilkley Community Website for free web hosting.
