Going on Your First Walk With the Group

If you've been walking before (or still go walking) and enjoy a good leg stretch - even if it's been a while and you just want some more experience - we'd encourage you to join us. Also if you do cycling, running climbing or whatever and fancy trying hiking then try us.

It's important to have appropriate clothing - non-cotton trousers (try to avoid jeans), walking boots (or even doc martens or other supportive boots, £20 cheapies from M&S seem pretty good for starters), a waterproof, jumper/fleece, food and drink, and a comfortable rucksack. The ramblers association has good advice on basic kit on their website

The walk leaders take responsibility so you need to co-operate with them and if necessary follow instructions, but they're very laid back ordinarily and it's just a friendly day out. As a beginner it wouldn't be bad to contact them via their contact details against the walk diary entry, maybe a few days or a week before the walk.
